NAIROBI ELEGANCE AFFAIR

NAIROBI ELEGANCE AFFAIR

An elegant affair it was indeed. One that can not go without mentioning ; however late. The event was organised by The Bow - Tie Events and was held at the Nairobi Railways Museum, making it the very first fashion show in Kenya so far to be done on the Railway.

The show which successfully pulled a gathering of fashion enthusiasts, fashion bloggers, fashion photographers, fashion designers, fashion entrepreneurs and models was very exciting to watch. The trains on site that acted more like props and the railway runway made for a vintage environment. One could clearly envision the Victorian elegance by just looking at the surrounding.

The main objective of the fashion show was to expose upcoming designers to the fashion community and the market at large. We also had upcoming models strutting the runway for the very first time. The event was also done in support of Cherehani Africa Initiative, a social enterprise that seeks to empower women from less privileged backgrounds by providing them with sewing machines and equipping them with tailoring skills.

The designs that walked the runway were impressive to say the least. Lucky Fatma, Edna Ipalei, Margaret John, James Muthui, Cindy Wanjiku and Winfred Waceke are some of the designers that showcased at the event. The Models were stylishly accessorized by Becksville Trends . Mohamed Bana of BANA the brand closed the show on a high note with his exquisite designs.

What we experienced at Nairobi Elegance Affair can be summed up in these two words; Unforgettable and Phenomenal. The future of the fashion industry in Kenya looks bright. Take a peek at what went down at the event.

BEAUTY OF A WOMAN

 THE BEAUTY OF A WOMAN

The beauty of a woman
is not in the clothes she wears,
the figure she carries,
or the way she combs her hair;

and...

The beauty of a woman
is not in a facial mole, but...
true beauty of a woman
is reflected in her soul.
The care that she gives, and...
the passion she shows; would be the...
beauty of a woman's character that grows.

Phenomenal Woman: A Lady with love.
Phenomenal Woman: An Angel above.
Phenomenal Woman: An Image of God.
Respectful, kind, and not of a facade.

A Poet with love; her age just a number,
this Woman of God would NEVER slumber.

Just had to share this with you..fell in love with it.Hope you do to..xoxo..

BEAUTY THROUGH THE KENYAN EYE.

                                                BEAUTY THROUGH THE KENYAN EYE

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so they say. But what is beauty in accordance with the Kenyan eye! A Kansas based journalist Esther Honig, in a bid to demystify the term beauty from the perspective of different cultures, assembled 40 artists, both professional and amateurs and asked them to Photoshop her free make-up face into what they considered beautiful.

According to the Americans a beautiful woman has blue or green eyes with a well made up face. For the Moroccans a beautiful woman is the one covered in a Hijab and adorned with make up whilst the Philippine a beautiful woman has long, flowy hair with red lipstick. As for the Kenyans, a woman wearing blue eye shadow is a beauty.Any Kenyan lady in the house who second this? Personally.. am like noooo..I would really love to meet that woman who reckons that blue eye shadow is the standard of beauty among Kenyan women.

What are your thoughts on this?

FASHION AT FIFA

                                                              FASHION AT FIFA
It has been a week and some days since the 2014 world cup began. I am not a soccer fanatic hence I can barely fathom nor contain the excitement and intrigues that comes with it. The well trimmed physique of sports personalities and soccer players makes watching the matches endurable and worthwhile.
And as a fashion enthusiast, I could not help but marvel at the fashion  exhibited at the World Cup Grand Opening which was graced by high profiled guests from different nationalities worldwide and the top notch footballers who as we all know are into fashion.
So mirror mirror on the wall, who was the Best Dressed? Let’s find out...

5. NETHERLANDS

The Dutch team chose to go the business semi -casual way, they took a break from the old monotonous track suit style we are used to seeing .They nailed it.

 4. HONDURAS

A well tailored suit is to women what lingerie is to a man. Well, the Honduras team seems to know this too well and they did not disappoint. They vamped their style by sporting top notch “H” embellished blazers.

3. JAPAN

How rare is it to spot a man adorned in a checkered business suit and still rock it. The Japanese team did exactly that and boy did they rock it, spicing it up with diamond print ties.

2. GERMAN.

The picture says it all. The German team was rocking the Hugo Boss designer suits and looked sizzling hot.

1. ITALY

Dressed from head to toe by Dolce and Gabana, what a way to make a fashion statement. Their style oozed of class. It’s no wonder they topped the least of the best dressed football team 2014.
So do you agree this were the  top 5 best dressed team at the FIFA 2014 grand opening? Lets us know...

Lupita graces Vogue for the first time

 Lupita Graces Vogue July 2014

Lupita is slowly cementing her name among Hollywood's  A-Listers. It all begun with the big oscar win, then she became the face of Lancome; and shortly after she was named the world's most beautiful woman of 2014 by People's magazine.  Clearly, a cover on one of America's most prestigious fashion magazine was inevitable.

Lupita's Photos on Vogue Cover and on the fashion spread are irresistible. Her chocolate skin complexion blends well with the ethnic prints and the African setting.

Check out more of her stunning shots of her first cover of Vogue and on the fashion spread pages where she poses in big labels. She was photographed by Mikael Jansson!

It is Lupita's Year for sure!

The launch was attended by models, fashion enthusiasts, fashion bloggers, fashion entrepreneurs and photographers. The dress code for the event was a touch of Kitenge or Ankara.
